Eagles U14 had a fantastic weekend at Pontins finishing as runners up after a very testing final against National Winners, Oldham. We ended the first day unbeaten with comfortable victories against: Dreams (11-2), Flames (13-4), Cliftonettes (13-2), Poole (14-2), Hornets (11-3) and Yendys. Yendys gave us tough competition but we pulled through narrowly winning our last match of the day with an 8-7 win.

We began Day 2 with a strong desire to get to the final and play against Oldham. In our first game against AFNC we showed how strong we could be pulling out a result of 17-1. We won the second game 7-4 against Barr Beacon and the third game 13-2 against MK Netters. We were excited to be through to the knock out stages. We met Oldham B in the quarter finals where we stuck to basics and played them well securing ourselves a semi-final place against Hatfield which we then won 10-5.

We were so excited and proud, we had completed our goal to meet Oldham A in the finals. Having seen them win the U14’s Nationals we knew they were going to be tough competition. The final result was 14-2 to Oldham. However, in the second half once we got over our nerves and gave everything we had, we only conceded 4 goals and scored 2.

Congratulations to Oldham who thoroughly deserved the win, they were a great opposition and showed us what we need to do, to improve our game to come back stronger next year!

Massive thank you goes out to our coaches and parents for their support and encouragement over the weekend and throughout the season!
