Final Score Eagles 19 v Woodley 59 (L)
Having come through a very challenging and hard fought qualifying regional tournament the Eagles under 14s played Woodley in their first game of the South Regional League.
We knew our first game was going to be tough as Woodley were Southern Regional Champions last year and we are playing a year up. However, we went in with a positive mindset prepared for a tough match.
We started off well but lost a bit of momentum to their speed and fluency of play and their ability to get the ball down to their tall goal shooter. Our passing lacked some power and accuracy allowing Woodley to take the advantage which was converted into goals. On the positive side, we were committed to attacking the ball, getting some turnovers and defended well on centre passes.
Although we were well beaten in each quarter, we produced much better netball in the final quarter only losing 11/7. Final score 59/19 to Woodley.
Congratulations to Woodley who clearly are potential regional winners again and to Phoenix for being picked by Woodley as their player of the match. Thank you also to our parents for a delicious post match tea.
