The team went into this match needing to pull off a great performance against a very good Royals team who, in their first match earlier in the season, they had drawn against.

With great expectations of it being a good game the first quarter started and Eagles got off to a sluggish start with mistakes being made at both ends of the court from both teams.

Eagles ended the quarter 2 goals adrift at 3-5.

A quarter time team talk with Neil coupled with some positional changes, Eagles started the second half with more direct passing and tighter marking. This seemed to make all the difference

The team started to generate turnover ball and as a result of some excellent feeding into the circle the shooters turned the Q1 deficit into a slim lead, ending Q2 9-8.

This was turning into a nail-biter like the last game and the parents on the balcony were getting a great view of the match!

A few more positional changes by Neil and a feisty start to Q3 meant that the team really started to believe they could win.

Both teams made errors in possession giving the other team opportunities but Eagles started to pick up their game and finished the third quarter 14-10, much to the relief of Neil and the parents … finally some more breathing space.

Into the last quarter and we were confident of a win, but the score could quickly change with just a few turnovers.

Eagles had started to believe in themselves and with reminders from the sideline about using directional play, and using channels on the court and not just sticking to the sidelines we pulled away.

A few forced errors from Royals and Eagles were able to convert the newly gained possession into goals.

At the final whistle the score was 23-12 capping a fine performance by the team.

Isla got a very deserved POM for her tenacity around the circle and her shooting.
