Final Score: Eagles 53 - 49 MK Dons (W)
In one of our toughest games this season, MK Dons came out with a determination not to lose their 2nd place in the league. Neither side have any obvious weaknesses, and, this time, MK Dons could field a full-strength squad.
At the end of the first quarter, things were tight at 14-13 to Eagles, and it was quickly obvious to players and spectators, alike, that we had a hard physical battle on our hands but it was one that we were up for, with both sides keeping both umpires busy.
MK Dons matched us in their play, finishing at half-time on 25-25, and the third quarter saw Dons edge ahead by 4 goals on several occasions, but each time the Eagles girls quickly drew back level. However, going into the final quarter, we were 38-39 down.
There is a reason why Eagles U16s are one of the toughest teams in the country to beat and, with constant, calming guidance from player of the match, Charlotte Burnage (WD), we dug deep and played our own game.
In the end, our training, fitness and mental strength showed through, and we had with the richly deserved win that MK Dons made us fight so hard for.
