Wokingham started confidently but Eagles quickly took control. The team looked strong throughout the quarter with shooters not missing many opportunities provided by good ball placement from mid court. As Eagles took an early lead their confidence grew. Defence worked extremely hard and were unrelenting from the get go. Wokingham capitalised on a couple of chances provided from penalties. The quarter finished 15-3.
The second quarter saw a myriad of penalties and technical errors, including footwork, from both sides. Wokingham saw more possession during this quarter and worked hard to drive the ball up court . Both teams passed the ball well but Eagles shooters once again capitalised on their chances. Midcourt worked hard and made some excellent interceptions. The quarter finished 21-5.
Gameplay became a little less tidy in this quarter. The Wokingham defence tried to disrupt the set play of the shooters. However, our attackers and shooters were provided with many opportunities and a string of goals resulted. Defence were resolute in marking their player and thus Wokingham Reds had few chances on goal. Eagles played tactically with much coherence.The quarter finished 33-7.
Wokingham worked hard until the final whistle blew. The Eagles defence denied Wokingham at all times with great interceptions and moving the ball back up the court. .Eagles stepped up the pace and the team seemed determined to widen the scoreline. The final score was 45-8.
