Final Score: Eagles 40 v Brize Jets 46 (L)
The girls started out really strongly in the first quarter against an extremely experienced and physical team. Eagles matched them for speed and skill and the shooters were clinical despite extremely close attention from a very tall defence.
Drawing at quarter time Brize started the second quarter strongly going up 3 goals almost immediately. The zone Brize had set up throughout the mid court forced errors from Eagles coming out of defence and there were some lost balls in the attack.
Going into the third quarter the young team showed fantastic resilience and the young defence pairing were outstanding. They forced many errors and turned over ball which is a credit to the two youngsters as they were facing a tall experienced attack.
Having to soak up a huge amount of pressure coming from the attack was tough but the defence remained unfazed and showed incredible mental toughness. The Eagles attack continued to work tirelessly getting the ball to goal and eventually winning the quarter by 1.
The last quarter started as furiously as every other quarter and the defence continued working hard. Brize continued to take the ball quickly down court despite attempts from Eagles to slow them down. Eagles shooters were pin point accurate in the last quarter when given the opportunity to shoot. Every decision seemed to go against Eagles, however, the team never gave up and worked extremely hard and won the last quarter. So Brize were fortunate to come out with the win having lost 2 quarters and drawn 1.
