Final Score: Eagles 41 v Newbury 20 (W)
Our U12’s took on a spirited Newbury this afternoon. The girls got into their stride quickly with both Charlotte and Marta scoring in the opening 2 minutes. The first quarter was all about Kiera and Eden incepting, Annabel to Izzy to Charlotte and Marta. Marta taking balls at full stretch to bring up 10 in the first quarter, which ended 14-2 Eagles.
Lots of changes for Q2, fresh legs in the shape of Priya, Helena, Amelie and others changing position. It took a while for the new shape to come together and we had to defend hard. Then 5 minutes in Dane and Amelie clicked and scored goal after goal to end the half 25-5.
The second half started slowly…for Eagles. Newbury’s shooter had found her groove and was scoring long range shoots giving her side a real boost in confidence. Newbury matched us and we go into the final quarter 33-13 up.
Q4 started fast, with Priya linking up with Izzy who picked out Charlotte and Amelie to score 3 times in a minute. Newbury continued to press; Helena and Edan needing to defend hard to keep the score down.
The Girls fought hard and deserved to end the match with a win 41-20.
